Handmade Silk Scarf 24”x31”.

This product is made by the weavers of Takeo Province of Cambodia in coordination with the Cambodian Craft Cooperation (CCC), a WFTO certified organization.  Weaving and wearing silk was and still is today an expression of deeply-rooted cultural and social traditions of Cambodia.  Takeo Province is well known for its concentration of skilful silk weavers, primarily women. However, the rural producers have so far remained poor. Both, their unawareness of the value of their products and lacking knowledge of and access to national and international markets, left them with only a small fraction of the profit their products generate. The CCC’s has helped reduce poverty in Takeo by linking poor communities to international markets.  The CCC has provided the artisans with training in creativity, design and production techniques, assisted in creating centralized production and marketing processes, set up quality checks and built a silk outlet to sell their products locally.
